One of the many ways that Hedingham castle is helping bring history into the communities is through the many weddings, which are hosted at the castle. In recent years these castle weddings have become increasingly popular due to the beauty of the location as well as the great service provided for weddings offering the options of services from the manor house and the Castle. The main ceremony can be conducted under the largest Norman arch in England, while the reception can either be held within the castle or in a grand marquee on the 650-acre grounds.

Hedingham castle offers an almost all year round wedding service with prices rising during the summer months in order to reduce a waiting list on seasonal weddings. There are many services provided when purchasing a wedding with the castle. A car service is provided as well as an overnight cottage for the newlyweds to stay in. food services and a bar can be provided or couples may wish to use their own. Events

Hedingham castle is available to hire for many corporate events. Businesses often hire the castle grounds and manner for evening events as well as celebrations. The large parking facilities and marquee make these corporate events very accessible and the backdrop of the castle gives events a quality to the events and stay in the memory of people for a long time. The castle is also often hired in the daytime for business fairs where people can go to see a wide range of stalls and companies such as wedding fairs and classical car shows and wide variety of other events. Many businesses in the community benefit from these events, as it is a great platform to advertise upon and it generates lots of community support.

 

While Hedingham castle embraces modern events at the castle, it does not shy away from its history. Hedingham Castle puts on a great deal of historical days out ranging from historical re-enactments, live jousting, birds of prey displays and many other educational days out that both kids and parents can enjoy together. Many of the live re-enactments use ideas of battle and war to educate people with excitement and competition rather than the monotony of factual information. These days out often have other side events on around the site allowing people to participate in traditional archery, weaving, bread-making and some traditional garden games.

School Visits

There are two schools in the Castle Hedingham area that have a strong connection with the Castle and its history. The first is Hedingham secondary school and Sixth Form whose logo is of the Castle. The second is the De Vere primary school, which obviously takes its name from the long-standing residence of the castle. However, these are not the only schools that visit Hedingham castle. Both primary and secondary schools in the county of Essex as well as the West of Suffolk come to the castle to learn about its rich history.
